The Massachusetts Bar Association held its sold-out 2025 Annual Dinner on Thursday, May 8, with nearly 1,000 members of the legal community in attendance at the Westin Boston Seaport District.

This year’s event featured the presentation of the MBA President’s Award to Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell and the Outstanding Young Lawyer Award to Alexandra A. Mitropoulos of Hirsch Roberts Weinstein LLP. The awards presentations followed opening remarks by MBA President Victoria M. Santoro, who highlighted the MBA’s year-long focus on mental health and reproductive justice and its vocal opposition to federal attacks on the rule of law and diversity in the workplace.

U.S. Sen. Edward J. Markey (D-Massachusetts) echoed similar themes in his keynote address, discussing the current administration’s targeting of legal professionals, law firms, and state and federal judges. He also emphasized the importance of due process for immigrants and the binding nature of the Constitution and its separation of powers. Markey closed his speech by calling on lawyers to continue their defense of the rule of law, thereby honoring Massachusetts’ history as a bastion of civil rights and the birthplace of the American Revolution.
