  • "Mass. Bar Association voices support for sanctuary cities, comprehensive immigration reform,'" The Republican (Jan. 30) -- MBA President Jeffrey N. Catalano was quoted about a resolution passed by the House of Delegates last week which confirms support for immigration rights and sanctuary cities in response to recent changes in federal immigration policy. Catalano was also quoted about the MBA's resolution in a Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly online story.
  • "Homicide charges sought for heroin dealers,'" Gloucester Times (Jan. 30) -- MBA Chief Legal Counsel and Chief Operating Officer Martin W. Healy commented on the ability of prosecutors to file murder charges against drug dealers accused of delivering fatal doses of heroin. Proposed legislation would allow prosecutors to charge such dealers with second-degree murder, punishable by a mandatory sentence of 10 years in prison. The story also appeared in several other Community Newspaper holdings, including the Salem News.
