  • MBA Chief Legal Counsel and Chief Operating Officer Martin W. Healy issued an April 29 statement in response to a federal lawsuit filed against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement by Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, Suffolk District Attorney Rachael Rollins, the Committee for Public Counsel Services, and the Chelsea Collaborative. Healy's comments were published later that day in The Boston Globe, Commonwealth Magazine and Law360, as well as featured in a State House News story that appeared in several Gatehouse Media outlets, including The Herald News.

  • "‘Surprise’ verdict spawns primary/excess insurer spat," Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (April 29). MBA members Nicholas B. Carter and Robert R. Pierce were quoted about a U.S. District Court judge's decision, which found that found a primary liability insurer was not liable to an excess liability insurer for failing to settle a negligence suit brought against the parties' insured.

  • "Attorney creditors get ‘blended’ pendency interest rate on unpaid fee," Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (April 29). MBA members Steven Weiss and Donald R. Lassman were quoted about a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge's ruling, which found that two attorneys were entitled to 4 percent interest on a breach-of-contract claim brought against a former client who failed to pay a contingency fee and then filed for bankruptcy.

  • "Auburn firm’s bankruptcy leaves workers out in the cold," Worcester Telegram & Gazette (April 26). MBA member Francis C. Morrissey, a bankruptcy attorney who serves on the MBA's Complex Commercial Litigation Section Council, discussed possible options for legal recourse available to approximately 40 Auburn manufacturing workers who are still seeking their final paychecks after being laid off as part of a global bankruptcy case.
