Massachusetts citizens may introduce bylaws (in towns) or ordinances (in cities) through their town meeting and city council processes. This program will explain the local legislative process, with an emphasis on drafting legally sound bylaws and ordinances.
Margaret J. Hurley, director of the Attorney General's Municipal Law Unit, will discuss the role of her office and how it reviews (and approves or disapproves) town bylaws.
