After a lengthy and careful review of membership categories by a subcommittee of the Budget and Finance Committee, three changes to the dues were approved by the Executive Management Board. The changes were enacted to keep the financial stability of the MBA solidified. The last dues increase to any of our members was in 2000. We are facing increasing costs and would like to be able to provide our members access to quality products and services.
Two of the changes for this membership year affect the regular member category. Each regular member of the MBA will move up in membership categories every five, rather than six, years. This change was employed for a better representation of the career development timeline of our members.
Second, the $200 category was increased to $250. This dues increase was implemented to align the regular member category with the incremental increases of dues amounts for all members. We believe this to be a nominal increase to this category.
The third membership change is that those newly admitted will be asked to pay $75 in membership for their first year in practice. We feel the benefits of membership in the MBA for these new members will provide a return on investment to this group by the value provided over and over again.
With your renewal, you are ensuring the MBA will continue to serve as the legal profession’s voice in the community. Thank you for continuing your membership in the MBA!
