Orientation and training for pro se mediation panel
The United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, in conjunction with the Massachusetts Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, is conducting a training for the pro se mediation program on Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 4-6 p.m., at the John J. Moakley Courthouse in Boston.
Mediation advocates represent pro se litigants at mediation of civil lawsuits pending in the United States District Court. Appointment requires only a limited appearance to represent the pro se litigant at the mediation proceeding. Each mediation advocate must agree to accept at least one appointment per year if contacted by the program.
This session will provide an overview of the program, review registration procedures, discuss best practices for mediation briefs and oral presentations, and offer tips for effective advocacy at mediation.
If an advocate attended a prior training and has been on the panel list, to remain on the panel list, each advocate must either attend the training or contact FBA Liaison Matthew Moschella at mcmoschella@sherin.com.
A reception for all participants will follow the training session.
Attendance at the training is limited. Please RSVP to rsvp@mad.uscourts.gov. With any questions, contact Moschella at the above address.
