  • "Appeals Judge Dalila Argaez Wendlandt nominated to Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court; if confirmed would be first Latina," MassLive (Nov. 3). A story on Appeals Court Judge Dalila Argaez Wendlandt's nomination to the Supreme Judicial Court quoted from a statement by MBA President Denise I. Murphy. Murphy’s statement was also quoted in the Boston Herald. 

  • "SJC chief justice nominee could be first Black woman to lead Mass. supreme court," The Daily Free Press (Nov. 2). MBA President Denise I. Murphy spoke to the significance of Gov. Charlie Baker's decision to appoint Associate Supreme Judicial Court Justice Kimberly S. Budd to serve as chief justice of the SJC.

  • "1st Circuit mourns loss of first Puerto Rican jurist," Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (Nov. 2). First U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Juan R. Torruella, an MBA member who died on Oct. 26, was remembered by several of his former colleagues. Among those quoted in the article were First U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judges Bruce M. Selya and Kermit V. Lipez and attorney Carmen M. Ortiz, all MBA members.

  • "Victims’ son can access murderer’s spendthrift trust," Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (Nov. 2). MBA members Joseph L. Bierwirth Jr., Mark E. Swirbalus and A. Hether Cahill commented on a Supreme Judicial Court decision finding that the son of murder victims could reach the assets of an irrevocable spendthrift trust established by his parents' now-deceased killer.

  • "In divorce, wife can’t be ordered to take higher-paying job," Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (Nov. 2). MBA Family Law Section Council member Kimberley J. Joyce and MBA member Matthew P. Barach discussed an Appeals Court decision finding that a judge amending a judgment of divorce nisi could not order the wife to accept a job in her former profession to remedy her under-employment.

  • "Baker nominates Budd to serve as SJC chief," Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (Nov. 2). A story on the nomination of Associate Supreme Judicial Court Justice Kimberly S. Budd to serve as chief justice of the SJC included part of a statement by MBA President Denise I. Murphy.
