MBA member Anthony J. Sbarra Jr., a shareholder with Hermes, Netburn, O’Connor & Spearing in Boston, was recently elected a national director for the prestigious Defense Research Institute (DRI).

DRI is an international membership organization for all lawyers involved 
in the defense of civil litigation. With 20,000 members, it is the leading national organization of civil defense attorneys and in-house counsel.

As an elected national director, Sbarra joins DRI’s 24-member Board of Directors for a three-year term. In this role, he will work with the board on all aspects of DRI leadership, including continuing legal education, membership, policy, charitable endeavors and all other initiatives of the organization at large.

McNeely, both MBA members, co-presented at the Massachusetts Department of Housing & Community Development’s (DHCD) webinar, “Employment Law Training: Workplace Concerns in the COVID-19 Pandemic,” on Oct. 29, 2020, in conjunction with the Williamstown Housing Authority.

Pender, a partner at the firm, and McNeely, an associate, discussed local housing authority (LHA) workplace issues and guided LHAs in determining the best course of action to comply with applicable laws during the COVID-19 pandemic. They also addressed common employer questions regarding balancing employee safety and business needs.

Announcements accepted for consideration include individual professional accomplishments (new jobs, promotions, recent accomplishments or awards*, etc.) and personal news (weddings, engagements, birth announcements, and other notable outside-of-work accomplishments). Honor Roll Firm announcements are also encouraged.

*Awards should not include mentions in Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers, AV ratings and other list-type awards due to the large number of attorneys who receive them.
