Massachusetts Bar Association Treasurer Grace V.B. Garcia will be inducted into Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly's 2020 Circle of Excellence at the virtual Top Women of Law event on Nov. 17. The Circle of Excellence "recognizes women attorneys who have been previously honored as Top Women, but whose continuing achievements merit additional recognition." Garcia is a partner at the law firm of Morrison Mahoney LLP in Boston. She concentrates her practice in defending companies and businesses in product liability, construction law, OSHA, commercial litigation, employment litigation, premises liability and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) cases.

Garcia is a member of the MBA’s Executive Management Board and Budget & Finance Committee. As a member of the MBA’s COVID Response Task Force, Garcia co-chairs the MBA’s Attorney Well-Being Working Group and facilitated the formation of the MBA’s Health & Well-Being web page, which provides health and wellness resources for members of the legal community.

In 2019, she chaired the MBA’s Civics Task Force, which hosted the first MBA Civics Bee and raised $15,000 to support iCivics, a digital learning platform that is helping to implement a recent Massachusetts law mandating improved civics education in public high schools by 2020. As chair of the Civics Task Force, Garcia also led the MBA’s Naturalization Disability Waiver Training in partnership with Project Citizenship, and coordinated the MBA’s Law Day initiative, which sent volunteer attorneys and judges to high school history and political science classes around the commonwealth to engage students on the topic of “Free Speech, Free Press, Free Society.”

In addition to her work with the MBA, Garcia is a board member and past president of the Massachusetts Defense Lawyers Association. She is active with ALFA International, where she chairs its Construction Law practice group and has served as a member of the board and held leadership positions in its Product Liability & Complex Tort and Women’s Initiative practice groups. Garcia is also the state representative for Defense Research Institute.
