The Massachusetts Bar Association is pleased to announce that Dahlia Lithwick, a contributing editor at Newsweek and senior editor at Slate, will deliver the keynote address at the MBA’s Annual Dinner on Wednesday, May 6, at the Westin Boston Waterfront.

Lithwick writes Slate's "Supreme Court Dispatches" and "Jurisprudence" columns, and hosts its biweekly podcast, "Amicus." Her work has appeared in the New York Times, Harper’s, The New Yorker, The Washington Post and Commentary, among other places. Awarded a 2013 National Magazine Award for her columns on the Affordable Care Act, Lithwick has also been twice honored with an Online Journalism Award for her legal commentary and was the first online journalist invited to be on the Reporters Committee for the Freedom of the Press.

In addition to appearances on CNN, ABC, The Colbert Report and The Daily Show, Lithwick is a frequent guest on The Rachel Maddow Show. A guest columnist for the New York Times Op-Ed page, Lithwick -- functioning in her role as Slate's legal correspondent -- often provides summaries of and commentary on current United States Supreme Court cases as a guest on National Public Radio's news magazine Day to Day, which is co-produced by Slate.com.

Lithwick is also co-author of Me v. Everybody: Absurd Contracts for an Absurd World, a legal humor book, and I Will Sing Life: Voices from the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a book about seven children from Paul Newman's camp who have life-threatening illnesses.

"Dahlia Lithwick is a highly respected voice in the field of legal journalism who has spent more than two decades covering the U.S. Supreme Court and analyzing some of its most noteworthy decisions," said MBA President John J. Morrissey. "We are excited to welcome her as our Annual Dinner keynote speaker and know that her address will be delivered with the same level of passion and insight that she brings to her legal commentary."
